Fairford Leys

Fairford Leys is an imaginative new village situated in the south west area of Aylesbury. It has its own village square with a range of traditionally fronted shops including a restaurant, a nursery, an ecumenical church and a community centre. It also has a Cannons Health Club.

A great deal of thought and planning has gone into creating a village environment with architecture inspired by traditional housing styles. The main streets and centre of the village have higher-density housing, with larger detached properties at the edge of the village. The design includes plenty of play areas, open spaces, playing fields and a golf course.

The estate is built on land belonging to The Ernest Cook Trust — a national charitable foundation with interests in land ownership, conservation, architecture, design and community development. 

Fairford Leys provides single-bedroom starter homes to five-bedroom detached properties, which we hope will ensure that its population is representative of all life stages, from young singles, through young and growing families, to the retired and the elderly. The hope that people would want to stay in Fairford Leys, moving house within the village as their family needs change, is already happening.

Some residents work locally while others commute, and those that are around during the day have found time to develop community groups such as the Over 50's Club, Mother and Toddler Group and the Friendship Club, which all help to build a sense of community.

There has been a settlement on Fairford Leys (the name of the area is Coldharbour which is the reason for the name of the Parish Council) since Saxon times. In the grounds of the school you can see Saxon buriel mounds. Coldharbour Farmhouse is a listed building and is used as the home of the residing minister of the village ecumentical church.

The village centre was officially opened in November 2004.
